Euromatch NPFL: Mohammed Blames Slow Start For Katsina United’s Loss To Shooting Stars

Katsina United technical adviser Azeez Audu Mohammed has blamed his side’s slow start for their defeat to Shooting Stars in the NPFL on Wednesday.

The Chanji Boys suffered a 2-0 loss to Shooting Stars in their Matchday 5 encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Shooting Stars started strongly and took the lead in the 20th minute through Olanrewaju Ridwan, putting Katsina United under pressure early in the match.

The hosts continued to control the game and doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute when Qamar Adegoke found the back of the net.

Mohammed admitted that conceding the opening goal affected his players and gave Shooting Stars an advantage in the contest.

“I think that early goal destabilised us a little bit. I think that was what gave them the edge,” Mohammed said after the game.

Katsina United will now look to put the defeat behind them and return to winning ways when they face Doma United in their next NPFL fixture this weekend.
