God, Not Don Jazzy Made Me Successful – Wande Coal

Nigerian singer Wande Coal has rejected the narrative that his success was solely due to his former record label boss, Don Jazzy.

The singer attributed his achievements to God, while acknowledging that he and Don Jazzy were two talented individuals who worked together to achieve success.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Wande Coal said his career could not be credited to Don Jazzy alone.

“God is the reason for my success. I give all the credits to him because he was the one who brought me out and made me successful,” he said.

Wande Coal also addressed claims that Don Jazzy was responsible for discovering and making him a successful artiste.

“Some people say it was Don Jazzy that brought me out but I feel like it was just two talented people working together to achieve success. So, it’s not by one man. It’s God,” he added.

Wande Coal was discovered by Don Jazzy and D’banj in 2006 after he performed at a campus event at the University of Lagos attended by the two music executives. He was subsequently signed to their Mo’ Hits record label.

He gained widespread recognition after featuring on several tracks on Mo’ Hits’ 2007 compilation album, Curriculum Vitae.

The singer further established himself with the release of his debut album, Mushin 2 Mo’Hits, in 2009.

Following the split between Don Jazzy and D’banj in 2012, Wande Coal joined Don Jazzy’s new label, Mavin Records.

He left Mavin Records in 2013 and subsequently established his own music label, Black Diamond Entertainment.
