Independence Day: Buy One, Get One Free On King Kosoko Cinema Tickets
Teqsus Studios has announced a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer for its historical epic, King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos, at selected cinemas across Nigeria on Independence Day.
The promotion will apply to all showings of the movie on Thursday, October 1, as Nigeria celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Directed by Adebayo Tijani, the film stars Femi Adebayo as Oba Kosoko and has reportedly grossed more than N65 million at the Nigerian box office since its release on August 28 through FilmOne Entertainment.
King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos tells the story of Oba Kosoko’s resistance to British imperial power and his efforts to defend the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Lagos. The struggle eventually led to the bombardment of Lagos in 1851, remembered as the Salt Water War, Ogun Olomiro.
The film was produced by Ayo Ajayi and Segun Olojo-Kosoko, a Lagos prince and seventh-generation descendant of Oba Kosoko. Ajayi said the Independence Day promotion was designed to connect the national celebration with the historical story presented in the movie.
“Independence Day is exactly what this film is about, a people determined to govern themselves,” Ajayi said. “There is no better day for Nigerians to see the story of a king who refused to surrender his kingdom’s sovereignty,” he added.
