LaLiga: ‘It’s A Disgrace’ – Atletico Star, Romero Says It’s Impossible To Play Against Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid defender Cristian Romero has expressed his frustration with the officiating after making his first LaLiga appearance against Real Madrid last weekend.

Atletico Madrid defeated Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid 2-1 at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, securing an important victory over their city rivals.

Romero was seen protesting the officiating as both teams headed to their dressing rooms at half-time, claiming that Real Madrid were benefiting from favourable decisions.

“It’s impossible to play against Real Madrid because every decision goes their way. It’s a disgrace,” Romero complained.

The victory moved Atletico Madrid one point above Real Madrid into second place, while Mourinho’s side remained in fourth position, one point behind Real Betis.

Romero featured in the Madrid derby for the first time since joining Atletico from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer. Meanwhile, referee Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias also faced criticism from Real Madrid, particularly over his decision not to dismiss Kang-In Lee following a dangerous challenge on Federico Valverde.
