Man arrested for allegedly killing father in Adamawa

A 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his biological father and dumping his corpse in a well in Sangere, Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this while parading the suspect in Yola on Friday.

Nguroje said the suspect was arrested after the command received a report from a resident of the community, prompting police operatives to commence an investigation that led to his apprehension.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that Sinamai allegedly killed his father and dumped the body in a well in an attempt to conceal the crime.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Peter Sinamai, 30 years, a resident of Sangere, Gombi LGA, in connection with the alleged killing of his biological father and the dumping of the corpse in a well,” he said.

“The suspect was arrested following a report received by operatives of the command. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly killed his father and disposed of the body in a well within their community.”

The PPRO said the corpse had been recovered and deposited at a mortuary for autopsy, while the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, had ordered a discreet and thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Nguroje said the commissioner condemned the alleged act and urged members of the public to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving family disputes.

“He further urges members of the public to always seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving family disputes and to seek appropriate intervention whenever conflicts arise,” he added.
