Nations League: Not Looking Good – Zidane Confirms Mbappe Has Left France Camp
France head coach Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that captain Kylian Mbappe has left the national team camp after suffering a tendon injury.
Mbappe picked up the injury during France’s 1-0 Nations League victory over Turkey on Friday, despite scoring his record-extending 67th international goal.
Shortly after scoring, the Real Madrid forward sat on the pitch and appeared to be in discomfort as he held his left knee.
Zidane admitted that the situation was concerning and confirmed that Mbappe would return to his club rather than risk worsening the injury.
“No, it’s not good. It’s not good, unfortunately,” Zidane told French television.
“He will have to go back. We will not take risks, he has extended his knee when he took the shot. It’s not very encouraging,” the France manager added.
