NPFL: Abdallah blames poor defending for Warri Wolves defeat to Insurance
Warri Wolves technical adviser Hassan Abdallah has blamed poor defending for his team’s 2-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Seasiders suffered the defeat at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Sunday. Alex Oweifaleya and Kayode Oke scored for Insurance, while Eventus Itolowo got Warri Wolves’ only goal.
Abdallah admitted that his team made defensive mistakes, particularly in central defence, and promised to work on the problems ahead of their next fixture.
“I saw some technical faults in our central defenders, which I’m going to work on with a view to correcting them,” Abdallah told the club’s media.
He also expressed disappointment that his players were unable to protect their early advantage.
“We scored early in the game, but unfortunately, we couldn’t hold on to the lead until the end of the first half.”
