Shooting Stars assistant coach Ali Kandil has expressed disappointment over his team’s missed opportunities after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Ikorodu City in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Oluyole Warriors played out the draw against Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, in a Matchday 10 fixture played last weekend.

Shooting Stars appeared to be in control after Taofeek Otaniyi and Desmond Ojietefian scored to give them a 2-0 lead in the encounter.

However, the hosts fought back to secure a share of the points, with Donald Obiajulu scoring twice to rescue Ikorodu City from defeat.

Reacting to the result, Kandil said his team should have taken advantage of their opportunities to secure all three points. He admitted that their failure to convert chances proved costly.

“That’s football if you have few chances and you don’t take, then you will regret it at the end of the day,” Kandil told Sporting Theory.

He added, “We should have been three or four goals up in the first half but that’s football. We had to adjust to some injuries. It’s an away point and we have to take that.” Kandil acknowledged the challenges his team faced and said they would have to accept the away point despite their missed chances.
