The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state.

Mohammed Haruna, Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to Haruna, a total of 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of the registered voters in the state, remain uncollected.

He said the uncollected PVCs had been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with the commission’s procedures.

Haruna also disclosed that some registered voters whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost applied for replacement cards ahead of the election.

He said 6,101 of those who applied for replacement printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.

“Similarly, it should be noted that some persons with damaged, defaced, or lost PVCs applied for replacement of their cards. A total of 6,101 among those who applied printed downloadable copies of their PVCs,” the statement read.

The INEC official further said the commission had published a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the collected PVCs on its official website to provide detailed information on voter registration and collection across the state.

Haruna said the publication was part of the commission’s efforts to ensure transparency and provide stakeholders with relevant information ahead of the election.

He added that INEC remained fully prepared to conduct the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

“The commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun state of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15th August 2026,” the statement added.
