Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, has criticised Portugal following her brother’s decision to leave the national team camp on Wednesday.

Elma expressed her frustration in a post on Instagram, where she argued that Ronaldo deserved more respect from the national team and those around it.

“CR7 deserved more respect. The national team deserved more structure,” she wrote.

She also criticised the Portuguese media, accusing journalists of contributing to the situation through speculation. “Portuguese journalism deserved more competence and less speculation,” Elma stated.

The Ronaldo family member went further in her criticism of the Portuguese public, saying: “As for the Portuguese people, well… they don’t deserve to have the best at anything. We are envious, disdainful, and ignorant.”

Ronaldo has since returned to Madrid following his departure from the national team camp. As a result, he will not feature for Portugal in their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Denmark and Norway.
