Toluwanisings’ wife, father sign peace undertaking with Oyo police ahead of musician’s burial
The wife, father and associates of late gospel musician Toluwanisings have signed a peace undertaking with the Oyo State Police Command to resolve the dispute surrounding his burial arrangements.
The development comes two days after reports emerged that the singer’s wife, Damilola Olayemi, had agreed with her father-in-law to bury him at their residence in Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the police confirmed that the parties had signed an agreement aimed at preventing further tension and escalation.
The statement said the state Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, invited the parties after receiving information about disagreements between the deceased’s family and associates over the burial arrangements. The dispute had reportedly generated tension and exchanges on social media.
Under the agreement, the parties committed to “refrain from actions that can cause further tension over the circumstances surrounding Toluwanisings’ death and agreed to end discussions relating to the dispute and interviews through any communication channels.”
Those who signed the undertaking include the singer’s widow, Damilola Olayemi; his father, Muniru Olayemi; his uncle, Lawal Ademola Rafiu; his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo; and his associate, Oyindamola Esther.
