Transfer: Mourinho Reveals Why Rodri Snubbed Real Madrid For Barcelona

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Rodri had doubts about joining the Spanish giants before eventually signing for Barcelona.

The Spain international decided to leave Manchester City this summer and was linked with a move to Real Madrid before choosing their LaLiga rivals.

Mourinho admitted that he spoke with Rodri several times during the negotiations and revealed that Real Madrid had made a strong offer for the midfielder.

However, according to Mourinho, Rodri’s hesitation raised concerns about whether he was fully committed to joining the club.

Speaking on Spanish television programme El Chiringuito, Mourinho said Real Madrid was too big a club for players to have doubts about joining.

“I spoke with [Rodri] a couple of times.

“Real Madrid made him a very good offer. But Rodri had doubts; he doubted, and I think what happened is that the doubts Rodri had gave me doubts.

“He’s an extraordinary player. But I think Real Madrid are so big that we can’t have players who think twice,” Mourinho said.
