Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims, Recover Vehicle in Kaduna, Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.

The victims were rescued on Thursday, September 17, following intelligence-led operations and responses to distress calls in the two states.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 of the operation, acting on intelligence concerning a kidnapping incident in Igabi Local Government Area, encountered suspected terrorists moving some kidnapped victims.

The terrorists reportedly fled after sighting the troops, abandoning the victims.

The troops subsequently rescued three victims identified as Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna.

A statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the victims were abducted at Gidan Gulbi village on September 11.

According to him, the victims were debriefed and reunited with their families, while troops continued to dominate the area.

Similarly, in Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over the abduction of civilians along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area.

The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes and abandon their victims.

Danja said the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and rescued three victims identified as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.

He added that the troops also recovered a black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims.

He said the rescued victims were later escorted and released to continue their journey.

Danja said the operations demonstrated the continued efforts of Operation Fansan Yamma to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and deny terrorists freedom of action across its area of operations.

He also appreciated members of the public for their support and urged them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
