Victor Osimhen continued his impressive goalscoring form as Galatasaray secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the 13th minute after being set up by Lucas Torreira, giving the defending champions an early advantage.

The goal was Osimhen’s sixth league goal in just four appearances this season. It also extended his scoring run to four consecutive matches, highlighting his excellent start to the campaign.

However, Galatasaray’s advantage was overshadowed by an injury concern involving the striker. Osimhen went down in discomfort and received treatment before he was eventually substituted in the 33rd minute.

Barış Alper Yılmaz replaced the Super Eagles forward as Galatasaray were forced to continue without their leading goalscorer.

Başakşehir fought back in the second half and equalised through Eldor Shomurodov in the 66th minute. Torreira restored Galatasaray’s lead just five minutes later.

The hosts, however, levelled again when Galatasaray defender Davinson Sánchez accidentally turned the ball into his own net, setting up a dramatic final few minutes.

Just when the match appeared to be heading for a draw, Gabriel Sara scored in the 90th minute to secure all three points for Galatasaray.
