Two Vigilantes Killed by Suspected Bandits in Plateau

Two members of a vigilante group have been killed by suspected bandits in Yelwa village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Thursday night.

The report said troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), were deployed to Yelwa after receiving reports of sporadic shooting in the community.

“On reaching the area, the troops found two vigilantes lying dead with gunshot wounds.

“They were identified as 50-year-old Philibus Maichibi and 60-year-old Pam Alamba.

“The attackers had reportedly left the area before the troops arrived,” Makama wrote.

The troops subsequently searched the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the attackers but did not make contact with them.

Security forces have continued operations in the area as part of efforts to track down those responsible for the attack and prevent further violence in the community.
