Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has been appointed as the new head coach of the Netherlands national team.

The 46-year-old has signed a four-year contract that will keep him in charge through the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Xavi will replace Ronald Koeman, who was previously in charge of the Dutch national team during this year’s World Cup.

The former Spain midfielder takes over the Netherlands after his spell with Barcelona and will now begin a new chapter in international management.

Xavi is also expected to bring former Netherlands and Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert into his coaching staff.
