2027 AFCONQ: Super Eagles Could Be Without Three Key Players For Guinea-Bissau Clash

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has revealed that Nigeria could be without three key players for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying clash against Guinea-Bissau.

Nigeria came from behind to defeat Madagascar 2-1 in their opening Group L fixture last Friday, securing an important three points.

The three-time African champions will now face Guinea-Bissau as they look to take control of the group with another victory.

However, Chelle could be without young forward George Ilenikhena, who may miss the game after picking up a minor issue.

Ilenikhena replaced the injured Victor Osimhen against Madagascar and marked his Super Eagles debut with a goal, scoring Nigeria’s equaliser in the comeback victory.

“We have to manage George [Ilenikhena]. He has a little something, so we will see in the final training session,” Chelle said during his pre-match press conference.

“ Apart from him, we have two or three players who are sick. We will see before Tuesday.” The Super Eagles will therefore assess the players during their final training session before deciding who will be available for the Guinea-Bissau clash.
