“Alex Ekubo Wasn’t Going To Glory” – Daddy Freeze Defends Wearing Black To Actor’s Funeral

Published

on

Media personality Daddy Freeze has defended his decision to wear black to the service of songs held for late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, saying the actor’s death was a tragic loss.

Daddy Freeze made the comments during an Instagram Live session while responding to criticism over his choice of outfit at the event.

The service of songs was held in Lagos on June 10, 2026, and guests were reportedly asked to wear white as stated on the invitation.

However, Daddy Freeze and his wife attended the event dressed in black, which sparked reactions on social media.

Addressing the controversy, he admitted that he failed to follow the dress code but said it was an oversight because he did not notice that part of the invitation.

He said, “Yes I was wrong to have gone with black, but I honestly did not see that part of the invite, my eyes did not go there.

“The dress code was written at the corner of the invite sent to me. I didn’t see where they wrote white only. So what I was saying was for me, I don’t see what they were rejoicing, I don’t see what the concept was about. But for me, it was sorrowful because somebody who was that young at least compared to me. He did not meet me in secondary school, my mother’s youngest child is one year old than Alex.

“So for me, he was not going to glory, he was a tragic loss until we were able to wrap our head around that. Yes I agree that he has gone to a better place but I just don’t agree that he needed to go now, neither do I agree with the people that were saying Christ died at 33. What Christ achieved at 33, I’m sure Alex would have loved to stay longer to achieve that much. He had no business dying. And anybody that wants to argue that can argue it. Me personally, I don’t believe that. Or do you believe Alex died empty? He has finished his work and earth. Do you believe that? Can we stop being sentimental and be honest?

“Yes I was wrong to have gone with black but I honestly did not see that part of the invite, my eyes did not go there. I do not believe that service of songs has a dress code. Them dey drag me oo say the family said they should wear white, I wore black. The part of Nigeria that I come from, na black or traditional that they wear to funeral, I did not understand the white. I just thought that we were mourning. Go and look at all the blogs now, they dragged me. And I was not going for a party. In my own mind, white and service of songs did not go together. I’m very sorry if you feel offended.”

Alex Ekubo: Daddy Freeze Mocks Nathaniel Bassey Over ‘Failure’ To Perform Miracle

Published

on

Media personality Daddy Freeze has criticised gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey over his comments at the service of songs held for the late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.

It was reported that Nathaniel Bassey had shared during the event that he was once invited by a pastor friend to pray for Alex while he was hospitalized. He added that Alex sadly passed away a day before the planned visit.

He explained that he still went ahead to minister to the family on the scheduled day, which was after the actor’s death.

Reacting in a live Instagram session, Daddy Freeze mocked the gospel singer, questioning why the opportunity was not used to demonstrate miraculous healing or resurrection.

He said, “So we’re sitting down minding our business, and Nathaniel Bassey climbed the pulpit, then he blows the trumpet. Ok, you can signify the trumpet in revelation, linking with the end of the world, it was the end of Alex world, may his soul rest in peace.

“But then he now starts talking and said he has never met Alex before, but then his pastor friend said they should go and pray for Alex and sing for Alex. But they want to go on Tuesday but Alex died on Monday. And then they still went on the Tuesday and still sang and prayed.

“And I’m like really? What happened to all your miracles, healing and your resurrection that you post on your platforms? I would have thought this is an opportunity to show your God’s glory,” Freeze said.

Daddy Freeze Throws ₦100 Million Challenge At Cross After He Called Him Out Over Pastors

Published

Media personality Daddy Freeze has responded strongly after reality TV star Cross Okonkwo criticised him for his constant comments about pastors and Christianity.

The disagreement began after Cross urged Daddy Freeze to stop speaking against religious leaders and to show more respect for men and women of God.

Cross wrote, “Daddy freeze with due respect sometimes keep your mouth shut 🤫. If you don’t know any thing about our father Jesus Christ. Don’t talk. And leave men and women of GOD out of your mouth,”

In response, Daddy Freeze issued a bold challenge, questioning claims of divine healing made by some religious leaders.

He proposed that if faith healing is real, it should be demonstrated by healing at least one person from a group of individuals with severe disabilities under clear and verifiable conditions.

He also placed a ₦100 million challenge, stating he would contribute ₦50 million and raise another ₦50 million if such a miracle could be proven.

He said, “Cross, I hereby challenge you, i put 50 million down and I’ll raise another 50 million from my people making 100 million if your so called men of God can heal just one cripple out of 50 cripples that I will provide. You can’t tell me that out of 50, you can’t find one that has faith. Children are in the bush men of God cannot see where they are let alone to pray for them to come out. Young people are kpaing. In John chapter 11 Christ raised Lazarus…”

The statement has since sparked reactions online, with many users debating faith, miracles, and religion.
