Nancy Isime Explains Why She Is Not A “Typical Nigerian Christian”

Published

on

Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has shared her personal views on faith, saying she does not consider herself a “typical Nigerian Christian.”

Speaking in a recent interview with Jay On-Air, the actress explained that unlike many Christians who rely heavily on pastors or priests for spiritual direction, she prefers to build her relationship with God through personal conviction and intuition while following the teachings of Jesus.

Nancy, however, noted that she still has spiritual mentors and teachers she listens to for guidance and learning.

She said, “I don’t serve mortals. So, I don’t have the need to perform for mortals. And I would always have a mind of my own. I would always do my own thing. I would always figure out God for myself.

“But of course, I have anchors, whom I listen to; preachers like Apostle Joshua Selman. When you understand the kind of preachers I listen to, you will understand where I am coming from. I am not your typical Nigerian Christian, and I don’t want to be. I have my own mindset just like Jesus,” she explained.

The actress emphasized the importance of having a personal understanding of faith while still learning from respected spiritual leaders.

Media personality Daddy Freeze has responded strongly after reality TV star Cross Okonkwo criticised him for his constant comments about pastors and Christianity.

The disagreement began after Cross urged Daddy Freeze to stop speaking against religious leaders and to show more respect for men and women of God.

Cross wrote, “Daddy freeze with due respect sometimes keep your mouth shut 🤫. If you don’t know any thing about our father Jesus Christ. Don’t talk. And leave men and women of GOD out of your mouth,”

In response, Daddy Freeze issued a bold challenge, questioning claims of divine healing made by some religious leaders.

He proposed that if faith healing is real, it should be demonstrated by healing at least one person from a group of individuals with severe disabilities under clear and verifiable conditions.

He also placed a ₦100 million challenge, stating he would contribute ₦50 million and raise another ₦50 million if such a miracle could be proven.

He said, “Cross, I hereby challenge you, i put 50 million down and I’ll raise another 50 million from my people making 100 million if your so called men of God can heal just one cripple out of 50 cripples that I will provide. You can’t tell me that out of 50, you can’t find one that has faith. Children are in the bush men of God cannot see where they are let alone to pray for them to come out. Young people are kpaing. In John chapter 11 Christ raised Lazarus…”

The statement has since sparked reactions online, with many users debating faith, miracles, and religion.

Veteran actress Toyin Adewale, the mother of singer Mayorkun, has revealed that the family initially thought Davido was a scammer when he first reached out to her son.

Speaking on the Talk to B podcast, Toyin Adewale shared how Mayorkun’s relationship with Davido began and eventually led to his rise in the music industry.

According to her, the contact came after a music cover by Mayorkun went viral online.

She explained that when Davido first sent a direct message to her son on social media, they were skeptical and believed it might be a scam.

However, Davido later called Mayorkun personally and arranged a meeting, which marked the beginning of their friendship and working relationship.

She said, “After the cover he did went viral, he was with his brother when Davido sent a message, but we thought it was a scammer. Davido later said he would call. I was also with him when Davido called, Mayorkun was so excited and almost went crazy.

“He told Mayorkun to send his measurements that he traveled. But when he returned, Mayowa and his brother went to meet him. That was when he gave them a full box of gifts and money. Although I was scared at the time because I didn’t know who Davido was.

“Mayorkun went back the following day, and that was when they recorded ‘Eleko’. It was easy for Mayorkun because he had been in the choir and had always loved to write poetry. After the recording, he moved in with Davido. After a while, I went there to see where they were staying, Davido was very pleasant and respectful,” she said.

“Mercy Chinwo Turned It To Concert” – Daddy Freeze On Why He Left Alex Ekubo’s Funeral

Veteran Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze has revealed why he left the service of songs held in honour of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo before the event ended.

Speaking during an Instagram Live session over the weekend, Daddy Freeze said he was uncomfortable with the style of music performed during the ceremony.

The service of songs was held in Lagos last Wednesday and was attended by several prominent figures, including pastors, gospel singers, Nollywood stars, and other celebrities.

According to Daddy Freeze, he decided to leave after gospel singer Mercy Chinwo began performing because he felt the atmosphere became more like a concert than a funeral service.

Questioning the type of music performed at the event, he said:

“Mercy Chinwo climbed the pulpit and turned the place to a concert. At that point I got up and left. Does Mercy Chinwo not have soft music?

“Do you understand what a funeral is? The kind of music that should be played at a funeral is soft music. They should have just played hymns for like two hours, then I would have sat down there and enjoyed it. So at the time she was performing, I just got up and left.”

Other gospel musicians who performed at the ceremony included Peterson Okopi, Moses Bliss, Ebuka Songs, and the Laud Urban Choir.
