Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has recalled a painful moment from the early days of his music career, revealing that he almost jumped from a balcony after a woman secretly took and leaked a photo of him while he was asleep.

The singer shared the experience during an interview with VIBE Magazine, explaining that it happened just a few months after his breakthrough songs made him a household name.

Davido said he had only a few hit records at the time, but they were already dominating the charts and earned him an invitation to perform in Ghana.

According to him, the reception he received there made him realise how famous he had become.

He admitted that he was excited by the rapid success and the attention he was receiving, especially from women.

Davido recalled meeting a woman after a night out and described it as his first encounter with a groupie.

However, the following morning, his manager woke him up with shocking news.

The singer said the woman had secretly taken a picture of him while he was sleeping and shared it after her friends refused to believe she was with him.

The photo quickly went viral, and Davido said the situation became overwhelming after members of his family, including his father and sisters, started calling him.

“If I saw a balcony that day, I would have jumped. I was going crazy,” he said.

Looking back, Davido described the incident as one of the biggest lessons of his life.

He said the experience taught him that fame comes with risks and that celebrities can easily become targets.

Advising young public figures, Davido urged them to be more careful about their privacy, adding that people around them can sometimes take advantage of their access for attention.
