Actor, Olu Jacobs Dies At 84
Veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
According to TVC, the actor’s son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced his death in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

In the announcement, Olusoji described his father as “The Lion of Lufodo” and said the family was grateful for his life, while appealing to the public to respect their privacy.
“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought, that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo.
“We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our family’s privacy at this time,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that Olu Jacobs was one of Nigeria’s most renowned veteran actors, with a career spanning theatre, television and film.
The late actor was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and began his acting career in British television.
He later featured in several international productions before returning to Nigeria, where he became a major figure in the country’s film industry.
Olu Jacobs was also a film executive alongside his wife, actress Joke Silva.
The couple were both involved in the Lufodo Group and contributed to the development of performing arts in Nigeria.
