EPL: Man City Set To Submit Appeal Against Guilty Verdict Today

Manchester City are set to submit an appeal against the verdict handed down by the Premier League over alleged breaches of financial rules.

The former Premier League champions were found guilty of breaching financial regulations over a nine-year period following an investigation by an independent commission.

The Premier League confirmed earlier this week that the commission had found City guilty of all the charges brought against the club.

Manchester City were given until Friday, October 2, to appeal the verdict, with the club expected to formally challenge the decision.

The Etihad club has strongly denied the charges. During the 2024 hearing, City’s lawyers argued that the disputed funding came from the Abu Dhabi government.

However, the independent commission rejected that explanation in its judgment, stating that it “concluded that it was an explanation that the club had concocted well after the event in an attempt to conceal the realities of the Disguised Funding Scheme.”

Manchester City’s appeal could now determine the next stage of the long-running case, with the club continuing to contest the commission’s findings.
