According to Jegede, she contributed more financially to the household, while her husband became increasingly sensitive about the way she spoke to him.
She said the change in his attitude often left her wondering whether he was the same person she had married.
Speaking about her experience, Jegede said:
“I was bringing in more of the money in the marriage and my ex-husband always felt disrespected, although he is eight years older than me… But the moment we got married if I tell him, ‘You dey craz,’ he would say I’m disrespecting him, and then I would start wondering if it was the same person I got married to. I regret choosing love over money.”

Her comments have generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users questioning her account while others shared their views on financial responsibility, respect and marriages where the woman earns more than the man.
Some social media users argued that the actress should also consider how her words might have affected her former husband, while others suggested that financial differences and expectations about traditional gender roles could create tension in a marriage.

“As a man, it is not wrong to marry a woman richer than u. But make sure you are the one providing food and paying school fees. That’s ur primary responsibility. No matter hw a woman loves u, she’ll disrespect if after a month u can’t provide food. Love is not enough in marriage.”
