EPL: Gerrard names three clubs capable of challenging Arsenal for League title
Former England midfielder Steven Gerrard has maintained his pre-season prediction that Arsenal will win the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners lifted the trophy last season after ending a 22-year wait for the league championship. Their recent performances have strengthened their position among the leading contenders.
Following their 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s side moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Gerrard believes Arsenal have the resilience and squad depth needed to remain ahead of their rivals throughout the campaign.
However, the former Liverpool captain identified Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool as the three clubs capable of challenging Arsenal for the title.
Speaking on The Overlap Daily, Gerrard said: “I just think where Arsenal’s squad is, and City’s, the Liverpool squad, I just think over the course of the 38 games, the three teams, and Chelsea, when you look at Chelsea in the second half there, I think them teams will pull away a bit over the course.”
