LaLiga: You Have A Lot To Learn – Mourinho Tells Diomande

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has told new signing Yan Diomande that he still has a lot to learn tactically, while praising the winger’s huge potential.

Diomande made his first start for Real Madrid in their 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

The Ivorian had previously made only brief substitute appearances since joining Madrid from RB Leipzig last month.

“He has a lot to learn tactically,” Mourinho said.

“But you can see he has incredible potential in one-on-ones, his crossing, and his shooting. He’s a very strong player who gives us a lot of options.”

Mourinho also revealed that Diomande can operate in different attacking positions, adding: “He can play in [Vinícius Júnior’s] position, or on the right… I want to see Diomande evolve, because I know what the other [players] can give me.”

Diomande is Real Madrid’s record signing and will now look to build on his first start as Mourinho continues to develop the highly-rated youngster.
