Messi vs Maradona: He’s Better – Gernot Rohr Picks Between Argentina Legends

Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has picked Lionel Messi over Diego Maradona when comparing the two Argentine football legends.

Rohr made his choice after Benin Republic suffered a 3-0 defeat to Argentina in an international friendly on Wednesday morning.

The former Super Eagles manager said he had personally played against Maradona during his time with Bordeaux and described him as an exceptional player.

“I played personally against Maradona, sometimes with Bordeaux, and Maradona was already a fantastic player. Messi is perhaps even better,” Rohr said.

Rohr also reflected on seeing Maradona’s statue at the Boca Juniors stadium before the match and acknowledged the greatness of both players.

“Messi and Maradona are really among the greatest players we have ever had in our football,” he added.
