Peter Okoye Confirms Jude’s Lawsuit To Stop Him From Performing P-Square Songs
Singer Peter Okoye has alleged that his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, has filed another lawsuit aimed at stopping him from performing songs released under the P-Square brand.
Peter made the claim in a video shared on his official social media page while responding to Jude’s earlier comments about the ownership of P-Square and the ongoing dispute over the group’s business affairs.
According to Peter, the new lawsuit is different from the ongoing case involving Northside Music and government authorities, stressing that he is only a witness in that matter.
He said:
“Jude served me a letter. We just had the hearing recently. During the hearing, the first thing they wanted to do was stop me from performing Psquare songs.”
Peter also claimed that during the court proceedings, Jude, with the support of his twin brother Paul Okoye, sought an order to stop him from performing the group’s songs.
The singer further rejected Jude’s claim that he brought P-Square to Lagos in 2005, arguing that the music group had already established itself before then.
Peter said:
“In Jude’s claim, you said you brought Psquare to Lagos in 2005, so automatically that makes you the owner of Psquare. Psquare’s first album came out in 2003. We’ve been singing for four to five years before that and even signed our first management contract. Where were you then?”
He also alleged that Jude was still in school at the time and insisted that the version of events being presented in court was inaccurate.
Peter added:
“You said you brought us to Lagos. Jude, we brought you to Lagos. I sold my car and paid for our first house. I still have the receipts. You and Paul ran away when there was nothing. I stayed back. Now, all of a sudden, you own Psquare.”
The latest comments come amid the long-running dispute between the Okoye brothers over the ownership of the P-Square brand, music royalties, and other business interests.
As of the time of filing the report, Jude Okoye had not publicly responded to Peter’s latest allegations.
