UCL: ‘Couldn’t manage single dribble’ – Jesus Colino slams Lookman after Atleti’s defeat to Bayern

Ademola Lookman has faced criticism following Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, with Spanish pundit and club insider Jesus Colino questioning his performance.

Bayern secured all three points after scoring twice in the second half. Lennart Karl opened the scoring in the 54th minute before Konrad Laimer added the second goal in the 74th minute.

Lookman came on in the 60th minute, replacing Alexander Sørloth, as Atletico manager Diego Simeone sought to strengthen his team’s attack.

It was the fourth time this season that the Super Eagles forward had started a Champions League match on the bench before being introduced as a substitute.

However, the Nigerian struggled to make an impact, recording just 20 touches and failing to register a shot on target against the Bundesliga side.

His display contrasted with some of his earlier performances in the competition, where he scored against Manchester United and provided an assist in Atletico’s draw with Stuttgart.

Colino was unimpressed with Lookman’s contribution, suggesting that the former Atalanta attacker lacked the confidence and sharpness needed to trouble Bayern’s defence. In his player ratings for AS, he wrote: “Lacking confidence, he couldn’t manage a single dribble and barely contributed in a few runs down the left.”
