EPL: You Can’t Win Anything With Carrick As Manager – Carragher To Man United

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has said Manchester United will not win the Premier League or Champions League under manager Michael Carrick.

Carragher believes Carrick is not the right manager to take United back to the top, although he admits the former midfielder has produced impressive results since taking charge.

“I don’t believe Manchester United will win a league title or a UCL with Michael Carrick, no. I have stated this openly, but I think it is appropriate that he holds the position at this moment. His results have been impressive.”

Carragher praised Carrick for helping United regain stability and avoiding the chaos that had affected the club in recent seasons.

“They have signed new players this season, but I believe what Michael Carrick has achieved, to his credit, is that he has delivered excellent results and has prevented Manchester United from becoming the chaotic team they have been in recent years. He has brought a sense of calm.”

However, Carragher does not believe Carrick can take United to the next level. “However, will he be the person to elevate them to the next level? I do not see that happening, but this is not meant as a criticism.”

Carrick was appointed on a two-year contract with an option for another year after initially taking over as interim manager in January 2026. United began the season with a 2-0 loss to Hull, beat Ipswich 5-2 and drew 2-2 with Everton, leaving them 11th in the league.
