LaLiga: Vinicius Jr Facing Ban For El Clasico After Red Card Against Villarreal
Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior could miss the upcoming El Clasico against Barcelona after receiving a straight red card during Saturday night’s match against Villarreal.
The Brazilian was introduced as a second-half substitute after Yan Diomande had given Los Blancos the lead.
Vinicius thought he had scored Real Madrid’s second goal, but an incident involving him pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair changed the course of the match.
Referee Isidro Diaz de Mera reviewed the incident on the VAR monitor before showing Vinicius a straight red card.
The 26-year-old reacted angrily to the decision, protesting as he left the pitch, while his teammates attempted to calm him down and escort him away.
Vinicius is certain to miss Real Madrid’s next match against Sevilla, while the referee’s report will determine whether further suspension is imposed.
