“My Girlfriend Once Accommodated Me At Her Parents’ House Despite My Fame” – Shatta Wale
Controversial Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale has claimed that entertainers in Ghana are not appreciated as much as their Nigerian counterparts.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the singer said many Ghanaian celebrities earn very little despite being popular, making it difficult for them to enjoy financial stability.
Shatta Wale recalled that there was a time when he struggled financially even though he was already a famous musician in Ghana.
According to him, he used taxis to attend shows, and his girlfriend at the time accommodated him in her parents’ house because he had nowhere else to stay.
“Nigerians appreciate success, Ghana doesn’t appreciate success. As a star, I was sleeping on the street as big as I am. At one point, my girlfriend who was living with her parents was the one accommodating me.
“Even as a big Ghanaian artist, back then, I take taxis to shows. Not just me, a lot of Ghanaian artists do that. Ghanaian artists earn pennies, while their Nigerian counterparts earn big,” he said.
Shatta Wale urged Ghanaian entertainers to learn from the Nigerian entertainment industry and raise the standard of their profession.
