Serie A: Zaniolo lauds Okoye’s impressive performance against Parma
Udinese forward Nicolò Zaniolo has praised Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye following his decisive performance in the club’s 0-0 draw away to Parma in Serie A.
Udinese ended their six-match losing streak with an encouraging display at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Wednesday night.
Okoye played a vital role in securing the point, saving Adrian Bernabé’s penalty in the 69th minute to keep Parma from scoring.
The 26-year-old’s performance also earned him his first clean sheet in the Italian top flight this season.
Before the encounter, the Nigerian goalkeeper had conceded 18 goals in nine matches and had been beaten in each of his previous eight appearances.
Zaniolo described Okoye as a “fantastic goalkeeper” and highlighted the importance of his contribution to the team.
“It’s not the first time Maduka has saved us. I love him; he’s a good person and a fantastic goalkeeper.
“Today, thanks to him, we broke our losing streak and got a point away from home that moves us up the table,” Zaniolo told the club’s official website.
