EPL: ‘So Disappointing’ – Morrison Surprised By David Raya’s Errors In Arsenal 3-0 Defeat To Brighton

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has expressed surprise at Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s errors during the Gunners’ 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.

Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the campaign after struggling against a well-organised Brighton side at the Amex Stadium.

The Gunners produced a below-par performance, with the hosts controlling much of the encounter and securing a convincing victory.

Goals from Pascal Gross, Charalampos Kostoulas and Chema Andres gave Brighton all three points.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Morrison said Raya’s performance was unusual considering the goalkeeper’s form in previous matches.

Morrison said, via Metro UK:

“I’ve never seen them this bad, but listen, you can have games like this. They’ve started the season ever so well and I think you’ve got to give more credit to Brighton. But they were disappointing, Arsenal, the way they defended.

“It’s a bit of a reality check for them. It’s not going to be easy to retain the Premier League and it’s a hard place to go, Brighton. It’s always difficult and they’re a good team with a good manager.

“Even David Raya, who has demonstrated exceptional form, did commit several critical errors. It was quite atypical, particularly regarding his passing accuracy and similar aspects. Disappointing.”

Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal squad now enter the international break in second place in the Premier League table, three points behind Manchester City.
