Osun: Adeleke denies alliance with ADC to defeat APC
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has denied entering into any agreement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to secure victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke said the ADC was not part of the political alliance that supported his re-election bid before, during or after the election.
The governor’s position followed a claim by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, that the party worked with the Accord Party to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the election.
However, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said his victory was secured through the support of Osun people and political partners who worked for his re-election.

He specifically ruled out any electoral arrangement with the ADC, saying the party was not part of the coalition that campaigned for his victory.
“I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify for the sake of history that ADC was never part of the alliance,” Adeleke was quoted as saying.
The governor, who attributed his victory to God and the people of the state, said his administration would now focus on governing the entire state irrespective of political affiliations.
“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people irrespective of political groups, religion or race,” he said.
Adeleke’s denial comes after Abdullahi said the ADC had collaborated with the Accord Party to stop the APC from winning the election.
The ADC spokesman had said the collaboration was part of efforts to prevent the APC from taking control of Osun State.
The governor, however, maintained that the ADC had no role in the political alliance that backed his re-election bid, distancing his administration from the claim of a pre-election deal with the party.
Adeleke was declared winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), securing another term in office.
